Baxter Elementary is entering the Calling all Communities contest hosted by US Cellular this year. The school with the most votes wins 150,000 and the next 17 schools with the most votes wins 50,000! They need supporters to go to the US Cellular store, ask for a code, take the code and enter it online. Voting goes through Oct 21st.

Cookeville Housing Authority, 235 W. Jackson Street, Cookeville.
Coats, hoodies, pullovers and raincoats of all sizes needed. Drop off through October 24 at: Cookeville Housing Authority, Nashville State Community College, Boswell Harley Davidson, Cookeville City Police Department, Hour-O-Matic Cleaners and Room 108 of Tennessee Tech University's Roaden University Center. Distribution will be October 27.

Middle Tennessee Girl Scout Troop 2208 will be taking donations of blankets to the 20th Annual Operation Stand Down Nashville on October 31. The donations go to homeless veterans.

Contest is open to all individuals, businesses and organizations. Displays may be installed beginning October 15 and should completed by October 20. Now - December 1: Volunteers Needed For TSSAA Blue Cross Bowl High School Football Championships
Hundreds of volunteers are needed to help make the TSSAA BlueCross Bowl High School Football Championships a memorable event for the players and their families. The championship games will be held at Tennessee Tech’s Tucker Stadium Nov. 29, 30 and Dec. 1. Ushers, ticket takers, parking attendants, souvenir program sales, and ticket sellers are needed. Overton County Adult Education offices in Livingston and Hanging Limb are offering night classes for those interested in obtaining their GED and are accepting new students.
